Louisiana Man Sentenced to 156 Months After K-9 Finds Nearly 10 Pounds of Meth in His Car
The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Louisiana announced that Heath A. Foster, 30, of West Monroe, was sentenced on October 8 by Chief U.S. District Judge Terry A. Doughty to 156 months (13 years) in federal prison for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, followed by five years of supervised release. Foster had pleaded guilty on June 18, 2026.
According to court documents, investigators with the Monroe Metro Narcotics Unit used a confidential informant in August 2025 to make a controlled purchase of 57.2 grams of methamphetamine from Foster for $350 in West Monroe. In November 2025, the unit again used an informant to buy 58 grams of methamphetamine from Foster for $350 at a different West Monroe location.
Later that same day, investigators learned from a confidential source that Foster was returning to Ouachita Parish with approximately 10 pounds of methamphetamine. Louisiana State Police stopped his vehicle as it entered the parish, and a K-9 alerted to drugs in the vehicle. A probable-cause search found a backpack on the front passenger floorboard containing almost ten pounds of methamphetamine packaged in six clear plastic bags.
U.S. Attorney Zachary A. Keller announced the sentence. The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Monroe Metro Narcotics Unit, and the Louisiana State Police, and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Allison C. Foster, under case number 26-00036.
