Delta Connection Flight 4819 Overturns on Landing in Toronto; All 80 Aboard Survive
At about 2:13 p.m. Eastern Time on February 17, 2025, Delta Connection Flight 4819, operated by Endeavor Air, crashed and overturned while landing on Runway 23 at Toronto Pearson International Airport in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, after a flight from Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport in Hennepin County, Minnesota. Delta Connection is Delta Air Lines' regional brand, operated here by its wholly owned regional carrier Endeavor Air. The aircraft, a Bombardier CRJ900 registered N932XJ, came to rest upside down beside the runway, its right wing and tail torn off, and caught fire.
All 80 people aboard — 76 passengers and four crew members — survived, and no one was killed; 22 of the passengers were Canadian citizens. In reporting from the day of the crash, at least 18 injured people were taken to hospitals, including some with serious injuries and a child. That all 80 people survived, with no deaths, came even as the aircraft lay overturned and on fire.
Canada's Transportation Safety Board (TSB) sent more than 20 investigators to the scene, and the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration sent personnel to assist. The airport's fire chief said that day that the runway had been dry and there were no crosswinds. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Toronto Pearson closed for a time after the crash, large numbers of flights were canceled, and two runways remained closed for the investigation. The runway closures and mass cancellations heavily disrupted operations for the day at the airport. Toronto Pearson International Airport, located in Mississauga northwest of downtown Toronto, is Canada's busiest airport.
