Buccaneers Hit by Flu Bug: Six Players Miss Practice, Mayfield Plays Through It
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are battling a flu bug this week: head coach Todd Bowles confirmed at an October 21 news conference that six players, including several on offense, missed practice with the flu, though quarterback Baker Mayfield practiced through it and most players are expected back for Thursday's full practice. 'It hit overnight — half the offense went down,' Bowles said.
There is better news on injuries: Mayfield, who played hurt against the Detroit Lions last week and still performed well as the team won, has been removed from the injury report and can practice in full. Running back Bucky Irving remains sidelined, with Rachaad White and Sean Tucker expected to keep splitting backfield duties until he returns.
