Raleigh, North Carolina, in Wake County — The Wake County Board of Education met on Tuesday, October 20, and had been expected to vote on a proposed 180-foot cell tower at Brassfield Elementary School in Raleigh.
The project could generate additional revenue for the school district, but nearby residents have raised concerns about potential health effects and impacts on property values. After hearing from 10 community members on Tuesday, the board postponed the vote, according to local reporting; the proposal will now be discussed in depth again during November's facilities committee.
