北卡州博览会今推“饥饿救济日”：捐六件食品免门票
位于北卡罗来纳州韦克县罗利的北卡州博览会 10 月 22 日迎来“史密斯菲尔德食品饥饿救济日”（Smithfield Foods Hunger Relief Day）：游客只要向任一入口捐赠六件不易腐坏的食品，即可免门票入场。博览会常规门票依票种为 5 至 13 美元。
这一传统始于 1993 年，历年来游客已累计捐赠超过 680 万磅食品，交由北卡罗来纳州中部与东部食品银行及其合作伙伴分发，是该州规模最大的单日募食活动之一。史密斯菲尔德食品养猪业务总裁 Kraig Westerbeek 表示，今年是该公司与州博览会合作的第六年，很自豪能继续支持这一帮助抗击饥饿的传统。

NC State Fair holds Smithfield Foods Hunger Relief Day: six food items get you in free
RALEIGH, North Carolina — The North Carolina State Fair in Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina, held its Smithfield Foods Hunger Relief Day on October 22: each fairgoer who brings six non-perishable food items to any gate receives free admission. Regular fair admission runs from $5 to $13 depending on ticket type.
The tradition began in 1993, and fairgoers have donated more than 6.8 million pounds of food to the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina and its partners since then, making it one of the largest one-day food drives in the state. "As we mark our sixth year partnering with the N.C. State Fair, we're proud to continue supporting this tradition to help fight hunger in a state that means so much to Smithfield," said Kraig Westerbeek, president of hog production for Smithfield Foods.
The state fair runs October 15 through 25 at the State Fairgrounds in Raleigh and is one of the Triangle's signature fall events.
