司法部宣布起诉10名外籍人士 涉嫌在明尼苏达州非法投票
美国司法部9月30日宣布，联邦大陪审团已于9月24日分别对10名被告提出起诉，指控他们在明尼苏达州选举中非法投票或为登记投票谎称美国公民身份。
本案共包括9项“外籍人士非法投票”罪和9项“为投票而虚假声称美国公民身份”罪。检方指称，被告在2022年11月大选、2024年11月大选以及2026年8月初选中非法投票；其中一名加纳籍被告被控在今年8月11日的初选中投票，一名立陶宛籍女子被控与2022年大选有关。10名被告均为美国合法永久居民（绿卡持有者），分别来自利比里亚、立陶宛、加纳、德国、波黑、巴西、加拿大和南非。9人在明尼苏达州被捕，1人在马萨诸塞州被捕，目前均已在联邦法院首次出庭。
司法部长布兰奇表示：“法律很明确，只有美国公民才能在美国选举中投票，执行这项法律是民主的根本。”国土安全部长马林警告在美选举中投票的外籍人士：“我们会找到你、逮捕你，你将面临刑事指控和驱逐出境等后果。”
司法部强调，起诉书只是指控，所有被告在法庭定罪前均推定无罪。
DOJ Indicts Ten Aliens for Voter Fraud in Minnesota Elections
The Department of Justice announced September 30 that a federal grand jury returned ten separate indictments on September 24 against ten defendants accused of voting illegally in Minnesota elections or falsely claiming U.S. citizenship to register.
The charges total nine counts of voting by an alien and nine counts of making a false claim of citizenship to vote. Prosecutors allege illegal ballots in the November 2022 and November 2024 general elections and the August 2026 primary — including a Ghanaian national accused of voting in this year's August 11 primary and a Lithuanian woman tied to the 2022 general election. All ten defendants are lawful permanent residents from Liberia, Lithuania, Ghana, Germany, Bosnia, Brazil, Canada and South Africa. Nine were arrested in Minnesota and one in Massachusetts; all have made initial appearances in federal court.
“The law is clear, only American citizens may vote in American elections, and enforcing this law is fundamental to our democracy,” said Attorney General Todd Blanche. DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin warned: “We will find you, arrest you, and you will face the consequences, including criminal charges and deportation.”
The Justice Department notes an indictment is only an accusation and each defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
