渡轮集体病假致停摆后 华盛顿州长下令重新评估轮机工程师薪酬
据《华盛顿州标准报》10月13日报道，在州营渡轮系统上周因轮机人员集体请病假出现停摆后，州长鲍勃·弗格森已下令对轮机工程师的薪酬开展新的评估。
报道称，此次评估将为明年夏天州政府与轮机工程师工会之间的工资谈判做准备。渡轮系统是华盛顿州交通网络的重要组成部分，服务普吉特湾沿岸社区与岛屿居民。
上周的病假事件导致多条航线班次取消或缩减，州交通部门其后陆续恢复正常班表。劳资双方围绕薪酬与人手配置的分歧已持续一段时间。
州长办公室表示，评估将参考同类岗位的市场薪酬数据，结果将作为下一轮集体谈判的依据。
After Ferry Sick-Out Disruption, Washington Governor Orders New Review of Marine Engineers' Pay
Washington Gov. Bob Ferguson has ordered a fresh review of marine engineers' pay after a sick-out by ferry engineers disrupted the state ferry system last week, the Washington State Standard reported Oct. 13.
The review is intended to prepare for wage negotiations between the state and the marine engineers' union next summer. The state-run ferry system is a key part of Washington's transportation network, serving Puget Sound shoreline communities and island residents.
Last week's sick-out led to canceled or reduced sailings on multiple routes, and the state transportation department has since been restoring normal schedules. Pay and staffing have been points of contention between the state and the union for some time.
The governor's office said the review will draw on market pay data for comparable positions and will inform the next round of collective bargaining.
