梅尼菲警员出警查获自制.50 BMG步枪 一名被禁持枪者被捕
河滨县梅尼菲市警局10月13日通报，警员近日在处理一通求助电话时，发现一支可发射.50 BMG弹药的自制枪支及数发同口径步枪子弹，持有人当场被捕。
警局表示，由于这支枪构造特殊、存在潜在危险，河滨县警局危险装置小组到场协助，安全地检查并排除了这支枪的隐患。经调查确认，该枪是一支功能完整的自制.50 BMG枪支。
警局指出，该枪缺少多项正规厂家生产的枪支通常具备的重要安全部件，任何人尝试操作都会面临额外风险。警员另查明，持枪人依法被禁止持有枪支和弹药。
嫌疑人已被收押，面临多项指控。警局未公布嫌疑人的姓名、年龄、具体指控条目，以及事发的具体时间和地点。警局对河滨县警局此次提供的协助表示感谢。
Menifee Officers Seize Homemade .50 BMG Rifle During Call; Prohibited Person Arrested
The Menifee Police Department announced on October 13 that during a recent call for service, its officers came across a homemade gun built to fire .50 BMG rounds, together with several rounds of that ammunition. One person was arrested.
Given how the weapon was put together and the danger it posed, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department's Hazardous Device Team was called in to examine it and make it safe, the department said. Investigators determined the gun was fully functional despite being homemade.
Police said the firearm was missing a number of safety features standard on factory-made guns, which made it risky for anyone who tried to use it. Officers also found that the person holding it was legally barred from having firearms or ammunition.
The suspect was booked into jail on multiple charges. Police did not disclose the suspect's name or age, the specific charges, or the exact time and place of the call.
