缅因联邦参议员辩论聚焦取暖油价 五成以上家庭依赖燃油取暖
据美国媒体10月13日报道，缅因州联邦参议员选举辩论当天举行，现任参议员苏珊·柯林斯与挑战者杰克逊就取暖油价格等民生议题交锋。
缅因州地处美国东北部，冬季严寒。州政府数据显示，全州约52%的家庭以取暖油为主要取暖燃料，取暖油价格同比上涨约80%，家庭冬季取暖开支随之上升，成为今年选战的突出议题。
辩论中，双方就能源价格成因与州、联邦层面的应对措施各自陈述立场，并讨论了低收入家庭取暖援助计划。
辩论由缅因州WABI电视台主办。柯林斯为共和党籍现任参议员，杰克逊为其民主党挑战者，大选投票将于11月举行。
Maine Senate Debate Centers on Heating Oil Costs; Over Half of Households Heat With Oil
Candidates in Maine's U.S. Senate race debated on Oct. 13, with incumbent Sen. Susan Collins and challenger Jackson clashing over heating oil prices and other household costs, according to U.S. media reports.
Maine, in the Northeast, faces severe winters. State data show about 52% of Maine households rely on heating oil as their primary heating fuel, and heating oil prices are up roughly 80% from a year ago, pushing up winter heating bills and making energy costs a leading issue in the race.
During the debate, the candidates laid out their positions on the causes of energy prices and on state and federal responses, and discussed heating assistance programs for low-income households.
The debate was hosted by WABI television in Maine. Collins, a Republican, is the incumbent senator; Jackson is her Democratic challenger. The general election is in November.
