New Book: Applied Financial and Business Analytics, a Practical Textbook on Finance and Business Analytics
“Applied Financial and Business Analytics,” a new book co-authored by Peter Lou, Dr. John Jiang (Jiang Zhiyu) and Christine Lou, has been published by iCultures Publications. The paperback edition is priced at US$69.99.
A practical textbook for students, analysts and finance professionals, the book is built around data-driven decision-making and covers five areas: financial concepts, Excel modeling, statistical forecasting, SQL and machine learning — from reading financial statements and building financial models in Excel, to forecasting with statistical methods, processing data with SQL and finding patterns with machine learning. Its cases follow real-world work scenarios, and readers do not need an extensive programming background to follow along.
Co-author Dr. John Jiang is the founder of VESS (Virtual Enterprise System Solutions), an enterprise AI consulting firm. He holds a Ph.D. in experimental particle physics from Stony Brook University, worked at the U.S. Department of Energy's Brookhaven National Laboratory, and took part in the ATLAS experiment at CERN. He also serves as technology and enterprise architecture lead at United AI Health.
According to the book's author biography, Dr. Jiang serves as chief scientist of the North American Venture Capital Association (NAVCA) and was a postdoctoral researcher at Stanford University. In a message accompanying the book, Dr. Jiang states that he has 25 years of experience leading enterprise AI transformation for Global 500 companies across industries and for U.S. federal agencies, following 15 years as an experimental particle and beam physicist at three U.S. Department of Energy national laboratories and the NASA supercomputing center.
