San Diego County Roundup: Respiratory Report Adds Two-Week Forecasting, County Parks and Libraries Roll Out Fall and Halloween Events
San Diego County has posted several community-service updates. First, the County News Center reported on Oct. 9 that the county's respiratory virus surveillance report now includes forecasting that predicts whether hospitalizations for flu, COVID-19 and RSV will increase, decrease or remain flat over the coming two weeks, as flu levels run unusually high this fall. Second, an Oct. 7 County News Center roundup lists fall and Halloween events across county parks and county libraries, including haunted trails, fall festivals, movie marathons and Día de los Muertos celebrations for families throughout the county, with locations and schedules on the News Center page. Third, the county's Agriculture, Weights and Measures department (AWM) will host a free pesticide container recycling event on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the EDCO Recycling Center in San Marcos, 1371 Grand Avenue, San Marcos, CA 92078; no appointment is required and questions can be directed to (858) 694-8980. AWM also reminds agricultural operations that crop damage from Tropical Storm Rachel can be reported on an Agricultural Damage Assessment form emailed to [email protected] or returned to its San Diego or San Marcos offices. Fourth, the Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 27, in Room 310 of the County Administration Center, 1600 Pacific Highway, San Diego, on the Fiscal Year 2027-28 Annual Plan Strategy for four federal programs — CDBG, HOME, HOPWA and the Emergency Solutions Grant — where residents may comment on funding priorities.
