The first session is Tuesday, Oct. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Board Hearing Room on the first floor of the Riverside County Administrative Center, 4080 Lemon Street, Riverside, CA 92501. A second session follows Thursday, Oct. 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Coachella Valley Water District's Steve Robbins Administration Building, 75515 Hovley Lane East, Palm Desert, CA 92211, and a third, virtual session is set for Monday, Oct. 26, from 6 to 8 p.m.; residents who wish to speak at the virtual session must fill out the online speaker form before the meeting starts. The county says comments at the in-person sessions must be given in person or through the written comment form; all feedback will be summarized and posted online with personal identifying information removed, and written comments can also be submitted through the committee's county webpage. Beyond the sessions, the committee will review how other counties and cities perform law enforcement oversight, evaluate existing oversight capabilities and consider legal, financial and operational impacts. Committee members are Board Chair and Second District Supervisor Karen Spiegel and First District Supervisor Jose Medina; findings and recommendations are due back to the Board of Supervisors by the end of January 2027.
