One year after the announcement of a $6 billion AVAIO Digital data center campus in Brandon, in the Jackson metro area, local attention is focused on how the project is progressing, the Clarion Ledger reported on October 11. It is the second major data center project announced for the Jackson metro, following Amazon Web Services' $10 billion investment in Madison County.
The Mississippi Development Authority has provided a package of fiscal incentives, including the state's "Data Center Enterprise" tax exemptions and site development grants, while the city of Brandon and Rankin County have contributed infrastructure upgrades and tax incentives (the specific amounts of Mississippi's tax incentives are not public record).
