Masked Men With Apparent Rifle Knock on Doors Late at Night, Rattling Delaware Neighborhood
A New Castle, Delaware neighborhood was left on edge late Friday night, October 9, after a disturbing incident. New Castle County police said officers were called around 10:50 p.m. to the 1200 block of Canvasback Drive in the Mallard Pointe community. Surveillance footage shows at least two masked men knocking on doors, one wearing a black hockey-style mask and a tactical vest and carrying what appeared to be a rifle.
Residents told police the man knocked and then ran off. Four other men were seen heading east along Mallard Road — two on bicycles and two on foot. Officers and K-9 units searched the neighborhood and surrounding areas but did not locate the individuals. Police said it is not yet confirmed whether the weapon was real, and it may have been an airsoft-style replica.
Police released surveillance images and are asking anyone with information or home security footage from the area to call 911 or the non-emergency line at 302-573-2800.
