Oceanside's Measure S: Half-Cent Sales Tax Goes to Voters in November, Rate Would Rise to 8.75%
Oceanside voters will decide Measure S this November — a half-cent sales tax proposal that would raise the city's rate to 8.75%. City officials say the revenue would help repair the aging Oceanside Pier and other critical infrastructure. The measure comes just two years after voters approved a different sales tax measure in 2024. It is projected to bring in around $20 million per year, would sunset after 10 years, and the city would create a citizen's oversight committee and a dedicated fund so the public can track spending.
