Ontario's Measure H: Half-Cent Sales Tax on Nov. 3 Ballot; Rate Would Rise to 9.25%
The Ontario City Council has approved placing Measure H on the Nov. 3, 2026, ballot. If voters approve, it would add a half-cent local sales tax, raising Ontario's rate from 8.75% to 9.25%, and is expected to generate about $32.5 million each year in locally controlled funds that the state and county cannot take. The city says the money could support fire, paramedic, police, 911 response, anti-gang programs, street and pothole repair, homelessness services and affordable housing. Revenue would face annual independent audits and public disclosure of spending. Groceries, prescription medicine, rent and utilities are not taxed. (Source: City of Ontario.)
