肯尼亚驻美国大使戴维·凯里奇近日在明尼阿波利斯与明尼苏达州医疗机构代表举行会谈，探讨为明州医院和养老机构招募肯尼亚护士与护理员的合作方案。肯尼亚驻华盛顿大使馆10月11日在社交平台X上发布了会谈声明。
参会方包括明州养老服务行业组织“LeadingAge Minnesota”、招聘机构“Global Care Recruiters”，以及在明州工作的肯尼亚侨民医护专业人士。会谈是肯尼亚大使馆流动领事服务外联活动的一部分。
据使馆声明，双方讨论的重点是利用肯尼亚受过良好训练的护理人力，满足明尼苏达州日益增长的医护和老年护理人力需求，同时为肯尼亚人拓展体面就业、技能培训和职业发展机会。合作领域包括护士与护理员的伦理招聘、美国职业执照认证、老年护理专项培训，以及两国医疗机构之间的结对合作。
使馆还表示，计划扩大肯尼亚护士赴美执业考试的通道——通过内罗毕的 NCLEX（美国护士执照考试）考点，让更多有意赴美工作的肯尼亚护士能够就近参加考试。明尼苏达州长期面临医护人员短缺，尤其在养老护理领域缺口明显；肯尼亚则拥有大量受过英语教育的护理毕业生，两国在这一领域的合作已酝酿多时。
Kenyan Ambassador Visits Minneapolis to Explore Nurse and Caregiver Recruitment for Minnesota
Kenya's Ambassador to the United States, David Kerich, held discussions in Minneapolis with Minnesota healthcare representatives on recruiting Kenyan nurses and caregivers for the state's hospitals and elder-care facilities. The Kenyan Embassy in Washington, D.C., published a statement on the talks on X on Sunday, October 11.
Participants included LeadingAge Minnesota, Global Care Recruiters and Kenyan diaspora healthcare professionals working in the state. The engagement was part of the embassy's ongoing mobile consular services outreach.
According to the embassy, the discussions focused on leveraging Kenya's highly trained nursing and caregiving workforce to address Minnesota's growing demand for healthcare professionals, while expanding opportunities for decent employment, skills development and professional advancement for Kenyans. Areas of cooperation include ethical recruitment of nurses and caregivers, professional licensing, specialized training in elderly care and partnerships between healthcare providers in the two countries.
The embassy also highlighted plans to expand access to the U.S. professional licensing examination through the NCLEX examination center in Nairobi, supporting Kenyan nurses seeking to work in the American healthcare sector. Minnesota has long faced healthcare staffing shortages, especially in elder care, while Kenya produces large numbers of English-trained nursing graduates — a pairing both sides have been exploring for some time.
