"You can't give people more ways to vote and then hope they just figure it out."("不能给了选民更多投票方式,就指望他们自己琢磨明白。")

When you see these ads, you're seeing the people who actually do this work in our towns,"("当你看到这些广告,你看到的是真正在我们城镇里做这项工作的人,")托马斯说,"他们是训练有素的选举官员,和你在同一家杂货店买东西、去同一座教堂、坐在你孩子足球赛的同一排看台上。

Connecticut Launches $1 Million Voter Education Campaign Ahead of November 3 General Election

HARTFORD, Conn. — Connecticut Secretary of the State Stephanie Thomas announced on October 9 a statewide voter education campaign to help residents understand the state's three voting options ahead of the November 3 General Election.

The campaign is scheduled to launch next week and run through Election Day. It will feature 30- and 15-second advertisements in English and Spanish, along with digital billboards and online advertising.

Unlike typical government messaging, the ads will star real registrars of voters and town clerks from Connecticut's 169 municipalities, appearing in familiar Connecticut settings. They will introduce voters to the state's newly available universal absentee voting option, alongside in-person early voting and Election Day voting.

"You can't give people more ways to vote and then hope they just figure it out," Thomas said in the announcement. "That's why simple, clear, nonpartisan voter education is so important, and I'm grateful to our partners in the legislature for investing in this work."

Thomas said she secured a $1 million investment from the Connecticut General Assembly to fund the campaign, covering production, English- and Spanish-language creative, and paid media placement. Public Act 26-68, Section 467, directed the funding transfer from the Citizens' Election Fund.

The nonpartisan campaign is designed to highlight the trained local officials and bipartisan administration behind elections in all 169 municipalities. "When you see these ads, you're seeing the people who actually do this work in our towns," Thomas said. "They're trained election officials who shop at your grocery store, go to your church, and sit next to you at your kids' soccer game. It was an honor to celebrate their hard work and commitment to the voters of Connecticut."

The campaign was developed by Miranda Creative in partnership with The Latino Way and the Office of the Secretary of the State.

Background: Connecticut has in recent years steadily expanded how residents can cast a ballot, adding universal absentee voting to in-person early voting and Election Day voting. The more options voters have, the more they need clear guidance — which the Secretary of the State's office says is the direct reason for the million-dollar education investment. The simultaneous rollout of a Spanish-language version also signals that the state's election services are reaching more language communities; Chinese American voters can likewise check the Secretary of the State's website for voting assistance information.
