Star Citizen Spinoff Squadron 42 Gets New Cinematic Trailer, Steam Wishlists Open, Full Cast Revealed
On October 10, developer Cloud Imperium Games released a flashy new cinematic trailer for the space epic 'Squadron 42,' opened Steam wishlists, and revealed the full voice and motion-capture cast. The single-player campaign spinoff of the crowdfunded space sim 'Star Citizen,' 'Squadron 42' is one of the most long-awaited titles among space-game fans, and the triple announcement is seen as a sign the project is accelerating toward the finish line.
In 'Squadron 42,' players take on the role of a United Empire of Earth Navy pilot carrying out missions across a grand space-opera campaign. The project is known for its cinematic storytelling and high-profile cast, and the cast reveal fills in a long-missing piece of the puzzle. The Steam wishlist launch means the game is one step closer to release, giving longtime followers a central official hub to track progress.
Notably, the indie showcase Triple-I Initiative held its second broadcast of 2026 on October 8, unveiling a batch of new titles including the narrative tactics game 'Gods With Badges' — about police authority and moral choices, coming to PC via Steam in 2027 — plus 'Canyons,' 'Waltz and Jam' and others, several with playable demos now live on Steam.
No release date for 'Squadron 42' has been announced yet; the developer says development updates will continue through the Steam page.
