A Riverside County ad hoc committee will hold three public listening sessions on oversight and reform of the Sheriff's Office: October 13 at 6 p.m. at the County Administrative Center in Riverside, October 22 at 6 p.m. at the Coachella Valley Water District in Palm Desert, and October 26 at 6 p.m. online with a Spanish-language feed. The sessions follow a June civil Grand Jury report urging more oversight and system-wide reforms; Senate Bill 1379, signed last week, requires the county to split sheriff and coroner functions and create an independent Office of Medical Examiner by the next fiscal year.
