HHS Announces Up to $27.8 Million for Falls Prevention Among Older Adults
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced on October 9 that, through the Administration for Community Living (ACL), it will invest up to $27.8 million over three years in three falls-prevention initiatives for older adults.
HHS notes falls are the leading cause of injury for people 65 and older, with one in four older adults falling each year. The funding will connect health-care screening with community programs that build strength and balance and make homes safer, aiming to cut injuries and health-care costs while helping older Americans stay independent.
