Illinois Announces $1.8 Million in Local Food Infrastructure Grants
Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and the state Department of Agriculture announced on Oct. 8 that $1.8 million is now available through the Local Food Infrastructure Grant (LFIG) program. Grants can fund refrigerated vehicles, livestock processing, community kitchens, cold storage and food-safety equipment, helping local farms, food processors and small businesses expand capacity and reach new markets. Officials said a single refrigerated truck or storage site can significantly improve a community's access to fresh food, and eligible organizations and businesses are encouraged to apply.
