Idaho First-Quarter Revenue Beats Forecast by $90 Million; Income Tax Up 18.3% Year to Date
Idaho's General Fund revenue for the first quarter of the new fiscal year came in about $90 million above the official forecast, according to figures released by the Governor's Office on October 9, marking a notably stronger-than-expected start to the fiscal year.
By tax type, personal income tax collections are up 18.3% year to date, while withholding tax collections rose 20% year over year in the first quarter, the strongest-performing component.
Monthly results also beat expectations: September revenue alone came in about $39 million above forecast. Meanwhile, sales tax collected through online marketplaces grew 23.4% in the first quarter, showing a continued expansion in tax contributions from online consumption channels.
The General Fund is the state's main source of funding for day-to-day government operations. The figures were published by the Governor's Office in its latest fiscal update and are measured against the state's official revenue forecast.
