Alleged Leader of '764' Extremist Network Pleads Guilty in Federal Court

The U.S. Department of Justice said on Oct. 9 that Prasan Nepal, 21, of High Point, North Carolina, pleaded guilty in federal court on Oct. 8 to conspiracy to sexually exploit children. Nepal, who used the name "Trippy" online, is described by prosecutors as one of the leaders of "764," a global violent extremist network.

The department did not announce sentencing information in this release; the sentencing date and term will be determined by the court. "764" is a network U.S. law enforcement has named in recent years as a violent extremist enterprise operating largely through social platforms, private groups, and gaming communities.

Such networks typically target minors, building trust through shared interests, games, and chat before escalating to coercion. Parents do not need to panic, but warning signs are worth a conversation: a child spending long hours in closed groups, suddenly changing accounts and passwords, or showing sharp mood changes.

The Justice Department urges the public to preserve evidence and report suspected exploitation of minors to the FBI or the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) hotline. Do not negotiate with the offenders and do not delete chat records — keeping the originals helps investigators act.
