美国总统特朗普已批准以行刑队枪决方式处决2009年胡德堡枪击案凶手、前陆军少校尼达尔·哈桑（Nidal Hasan）。若最终执行，这将是美军自二战以来首次以枪决方式执行死刑，也是65年来首次对现役军人执行死刑。
五角大楼10月5日晚宣布，国防部长赫格塞斯（Pete Hegseth）建议对哈桑采用枪决，特朗普已批准。五角大楼发言人帕内尔（Sean Parnell）在社交媒体上表示，陆军部长将确定执行的时间和地点。
哈桑曾是陆军精神科医生，2009年11月5日在得克萨斯州胡德堡基地开枪，造成13人死亡、32人受伤。2013年军事法庭判处其死刑。
按美军规定，死刑犯仍可通过申请人身保护令（habeas corpus）等法律程序挑战判决，相关诉讼可能导致执行暂缓。

US Military to Carry Out Firing Squad Execution for First Time in 81 Years
President Donald Trump has approved execution by firing squad for Nidal Hasan, the former Army major behind the 2009 Fort Hood shooting. If carried out, it would be the first US military firing-squad execution since World War II and the first death penalty imposed on a service member in 65 years.
The Pentagon announced Monday night that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth recommended the method and Trump approved it. Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell said the Army Secretary will set the time and place of the execution.
Hasan, an Army psychiatrist, killed 13 people and wounded 32 at Fort Hood, Texas, on Nov. 5, 2009. A military jury sentenced him to death in 2013.
Under military rules, the condemned may still challenge the sentence through habeas corpus and other legal proceedings, which could delay execution.
