联邦法官10月5日作出裁定，孟菲斯-谢尔比县学区的州接管计划可以继续推进。据《商业呼声报》报道，田纳西州此前以学区长期学业表现不佳为由，决定由州政府接管该学区管理权，学区方面则提起诉讼试图阻止。法官在裁决中驳回了学区的主要诉求，认为州政府在法律框架内有权干预持续表现不佳的学区。孟菲斯-谢尔比县学区是田纳西州规模最大的学区之一，学生人数超过10万。州教育部门表示，接管后将派驻管理团队，重点提升学生的阅读与数学成绩。学区方面尚未决定是否上诉。
Federal Judge Rules Memphis-Shelby Schools State Takeover Can Proceed
A federal judge ruled on October 5 that the state takeover of Memphis-Shelby County Schools may proceed. According to The Commercial Appeal, Tennessee moved to take over the district citing chronically poor academic performance, and the district sued to block it. The judge rejected the district's main claims, finding the state acted within its legal authority to intervene in persistently struggling districts. Memphis-Shelby County Schools is among Tennessee's largest districts with more than 100,000 students. The state education department said a management team will be installed after the takeover, focusing on improving reading and math scores. The district has not yet decided whether to appeal.
