Alabama Declares Emergency in 40 Counties Ahead of Hurricane Isaias
Alabama Governor Kay Ivey declared a state of emergency in 40 counties as Hurricane Isaias bears down on the state. According to Fox 5 Atlanta on October 7, the order authorizes the state emergency management agency to mobilize resources and pre-position rescue teams and supplies. Forecasters expect Isaias to bring strong winds, heavy rain and storm surge to Alabama, with coastal and low-lying areas at risk of flooding. Ivey urged residents to monitor forecasts closely, stock emergency supplies and follow local evacuation orders if issued. The Alabama Emergency Management Agency has activated its operations center on 24-hour duty.
