Trump Signs Order Easing Diesel Restrictions to Cut Fuel Costs
President Trump signed an executive order on October 6 in Grand Island, Nebraska, easing restrictions on tax-exempt diesel, formally lifting off-road use limits so anyone may purchase tax-free dyed diesel for any reason.
The move is part of his month-long campaign sprint ahead of November's midterms, billed as an "unprecedented cost-cutting action." Wars involving Russia and the Middle East have squeezed refining capacity and driven diesel prices sharply higher, hitting inland U.S. states especially hard.
