Idaho Revenue Beats Q1 Forecast by $90.3 Million
BOISE — Governor Brad Little announced on October 9 that Idaho's General Fund revenue exceeded forecast by $90.3 million, or 6.8%, in the first quarter of fiscal year 2027 (July-September), according to the September revenue report, signaling continued economic strength.
Income tax withholding surged 20% year over year, accelerating from 2.8% growth in FY2026 and 5.9% in FY2025, pointing to strong employment and hiring. September alone finished $39 million above forecast. On sales tax, September collections totaled $215.1 million, bringing year-to-date collections to $617.4 million; online marketplace sales grew 23.4% in the quarter.
"Idaho's strong revenue growth is encouraging and reflects the strength of our economy, but we must remain disciplined and make spending decisions based on what we can responsibly sustain," Little said. He credited difficult budget decisions made last year with putting the state in a stronger fiscal position, and said the state will prioritize investments that matter most to Idahoans while protecting long-term stability.
