圣贝纳迪诺县｜州长签署新法，督察选区将由独立委员会划分
州长纽森10月1日签署 SB 1414 法案：自2030年人口普查后的选区重划起，圣贝纳迪诺县五个督察选区的边界将由一个14名居民组成的独立委员会最终决定，县政委员会不再掌握自己选区的划分权。该法案由州参议员 Eloise Gómez Reyes（Colton）提出。
Reyes 表示：「应当由选民选择他们的代表，而不是代表选择他们的选民。」新法同时覆盖了2020年该县选民通过的 Measure J（原为公民咨询委员会协助县政委员会划区）。县政委员会主席 Dawn Rowe 批评这是州政府干预地方事务，违背居民意愿；代表县府员工的工会也曾要求州长否决。
新法要到2030年人口普查后才实际生效。
San Bernardino County | New Law Puts Redistricting in Hands of Independent Commission
Gov. Gavin Newsom on Oct. 1 signed SB 1414, authored by Sen. Eloise Gómez Reyes of Colton, establishing an independent redistricting commission for San Bernardino County beginning with the redistricting after the 2030 Census. The 14-resident commission will have final authority to draw the county's five supervisorial districts, removing that power from the elected officials whose districts are being drawn.
"Voters should choose their representatives; representatives should not choose their voters," Reyes said. The law overrides Measure J, a voter-approved 2020 ordinance that created a citizen advisory commission to assist the Board of Supervisors. Board Chair Dawn Rowe called the signing state overreach that goes against residents' will, and a union representing county workers had urged a veto.
The law takes effect only after the 2030 Census.
