President Trump on Oct. 4 unveiled the lineup of the White House "Super Intelligence Force" in a Truth Social post, tapping Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton as the administration's AI lead, alongside Vice President JD Vance, FTC Chairman Andrew Ferguson, OPM Director Scott Kupor, Pentagon research official Emil Michael and former AI czar David Sacks.
The force will coordinate the federal government's AI efforts to keep America ahead in "super intelligence." Clayton has 120 days to report on the technology's benefits and risks, safeguards and response plans, while avoiding overregulation that would stifle innovation. Trump has called AI potentially "bigger than the Industrial Revolution and the Internet."
Polls show most Americans worry about AI risks and want stronger oversight; the administration argues for loosening restrictions and speeding data-center construction so the U.S. does not fall behind China.
