BOISE, Idaho — U.S. Attorney Bart M. Davis has announced he will retire on Oct. 17, closing out his tenure as Idaho's top federal prosecutor, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
Davis said in a statement that serving as U.S. Attorney for Idaho has been a profound honor, thanking colleagues for their years of support. He pointed to the office's work against violent crime, drug trafficking and white-collar offenses as team accomplishments.
The Justice Department thanked Davis for his service and said a successor will be named through the standard process to ensure a smooth transition. A deputy will oversee day-to-day operations until then.
The U.S. Attorney's Office for Idaho handles federal cases statewide and has kept up pressure on fentanyl trafficking and gun violence in recent years. Davis's retirement closes a chapter, with new leadership set to face ongoing challenges.
