STARKVILLE, Miss. — No. 7 Alabama rolled past No. 16 Mississippi State 56-23 on the road on Oct. 3, USA Today reported, as the Crimson Tide opened fire from the first snap and built an insurmountable halftime lead.
Alabama's offense was nearly flawless, striking through the air and on the ground, while the defense delivered key stops to snuff out any Bulldog comeback. Mississippi State, ranked 16th, was outmatched on both sides of the ball as the home crowd fell silent early.
The rout strengthens Alabama's position in the SEC West race and adds an important résumé win for the playoff push. The head coach praised the team's focus afterward, calling the road performance satisfying.
