尤马医生医疗补助欺诈被判7年 须赔偿3600万美元
据《亚利桑那共和报》（azcentral）10月2日报道，亚利桑那州尤马市医生伊尔凡·法齐尔（Irfan Fazil）因亚利桑那州医疗补助计划（AHCCCS）欺诈案被判处7年以上监禁，并被责令赔偿3600万美元。
检方指控法齐尔通过虚报诊疗项目、伪造病历等手段，长期骗取医疗补助资金。法院认定其欺诈行为系统性强、涉案金额巨大，依法从重处罚。
亚利桑那州总检察长办公室表示，此案是该州近年来破获的最大医疗补助欺诈案之一。医疗补助欺诈不仅侵蚀公共资金，还可能让真正需要照护的患者得不到应有的诊疗，危害极大。
追回的资金将返还医疗补助信托基金。州政府表示将继续严打医疗欺诈，医疗从业者如发现同业欺诈，可向州政府举报，查实者可获奖励。
Yuma Doctor Sentenced to 7 Years for Medicaid Fraud, Ordered to Pay $36M
Yuma physician Irfan Fazil was sentenced October 2 to more than seven years in prison for defrauding Arizona's Medicaid program (AHCCCS) and ordered to pay $36 million in restitution, azcentral reported.
Prosecutors said Fazil systematically billed for services never rendered and falsified records over an extended period. The court found the scheme's scale warranted a stiff sentence.
The Arizona attorney general's office called it among the state's largest Medicaid fraud cases in recent years. Medicaid fraud not only drains public funds but can also deprive genuinely needy patients of care, officials said.
Recovered funds return to the Medicaid trust. The state vowed continued crackdowns on healthcare fraud; providers who spot fraud by colleagues may report it to the state, with rewards for substantiated tips.
