威斯康星 Mequon 医生欺诈案宣判：获刑27个月
【密尔沃基讯】10月1日，威斯康星州 Mequon 市医生杰里·琼斯三世（Jerry Jones III）在联邦法院被判处 27 个月监禁。据美国司法部新闻稿，琼斯此前被裁定多项医疗欺诈相关罪名成立。
检方指控，琼斯通过虚报医疗服务项目、伪造病历记录等手段骗取医疗保险资金。联邦调查人员在搜查其诊所时查获大量作假单据。
主审法官在宣判时表示，医疗欺诈侵蚀公众对医疗体系的信任，量刑须体现惩戒。琼斯的律师称将考虑上诉。
司法部表示，该案是联邦政府持续打击医疗欺诈行动的一部分。

Mequon Doctor Sentenced to 27 Months in Federal Fraud Case
[MILWAUKEE] Mequon, Wisconsin physician Jerry Jones III was sentenced to 27 months in federal prison on October 1, according to a U.S. Department of Justice press release. Jones had been convicted on multiple health-care fraud-related counts.
Prosecutors charged that Jones defrauded health insurers by billing for services never rendered and falsifying medical records. Federal investigators seized large volumes of fabricated documents when searching his clinic.
The sentencing judge said health-care fraud erodes public trust in the medical system and the sentence must reflect deterrence. Jones's attorney said an appeal is under consideration.
The Justice Department said the case is part of the federal government's ongoing crackdown on health-care fraud.
