Temecula Wins 2026 Helen Putnam Award for Excellence for Family Homelessness-Prevention Program
The City of Temecula has received the League of California Cities' 2026 Helen Putnam Award for Excellence in the Housing Programs and Innovations category, one of only 12 cities selected statewide from 161 submissions. The honored Flexible Family Assistance Program works with SWAG, the Riverside University Health System Crisis Team, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, Mission Hope and other partners to stabilize families in place while longer-term housing is arranged; in 2025 it served 42 households, about 162 people including 102 children.
