San Francisco Announces 465 Arts Grants Totaling $25.26 Million to 393 Artists and Cultural Groups
The San Francisco Arts Commission and Grants for the Arts announced on October 5 the award of 465 grants totaling $25.26 million to 393 grantees, including individual artists, arts organizations, nonprofits, cultural institutions and cultural centers. The agencies were unified under the Arts Commission on July 1, 2026. In its 2026-2027 cycle, the Arts Commission is awarding more than $7.3 million to 61 individual artists and 49 arts nonprofits, plus $2.5 million for six cultural centers. Grants for the Arts is awarding more than $15.45 million to 297 grantees in its 2027-2028 cycle. About 24.2% of recipients are first-time grantees. Awards range from $10,000 to over $450,000 over roughly 12 to 24 months, funded in part by the Proposition E hotel tax approved by voters in 2018.
