Natomas Unified agrees to discipline reforms after state findings
Sacramento's Natomas Unified School District has agreed to overhaul its student discipline policies. Under a settlement announced Oct. 2 by the California Attorney General, a state investigation found Black students received exclusionary discipline at about four times the rate of white students between 2018-19 and mid-2024-25, and students with disabilities, 14% of enrollment, accounted for nearly 25% of discipline referrals. The district will revise policies, train staff and report outcomes by group each year; a district spokesperson disputed the state's conclusions. (GSM, from the California DOJ and EdSource)
