Portland Public Schools proposes closing up to 14 schools; board votes in December
Portland Public Schools on Oct. 5 presented two consolidation options to its board: Plan A would close 14 schools (13 elementary schools plus Sellwood Middle School), Plan B would close 11, with a defer-decision option also on the table. The plans redraw 34 to 38 attendance boundaries. The district cites falling enrollment and a roughly $65 million budget gap.
