Philadelphia Council Committee Backs Bike Lane Around City Hall
Philadelphia's Streets and Services Committee voted on Oct. 5 to report Bill 250649 favorably. The bill would amend the city code to authorize a bicycle lane on JFK Boulevard from Broad to 15th Street around City Hall and remove one travel lane. Testimony from the Office of Transportation and Infrastructure Systems said the lane has had no reported bike crashes since installation and has become a welcome addition to the city's growing bike network. Supporters say it improves safety for cyclists and pedestrians. The measure still needs full Council approval.
