洛杉矶县公共卫生部在9月28日世界狂犬病日发布提醒：本县今年以来已确认69只感染狂犬病的蝙蝠，追平去年创下的纪录，而检出高峰期仍未结束。仅8月一个月就确认24只，居民送检的蝙蝠中约32%呈阳性；今年阳性个案约68%集中在圣克拉丽塔谷一带，但县内多处住宅区、学校与办公场所也曾发现。
县卫生官员提醒居民不要用手触碰蝙蝠或任何野生动物；若在室内发现蝙蝠，或怀疑人、宠物曾有接触，应尽快联系医疗机构、公共卫生部门或当地动物管制单位，并确保犬猫按时接种狂犬病疫苗。
LA County Confirms 69 Rabid Bats, Tying Record; Health Officials Urge Caution
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health warned on Sept. 28, World Rabies Day, that 69 rabid bats have been confirmed in the county so far this year, tying last year's record while peak season is still underway. Twenty-four cases were confirmed in August alone, and about 32% of bats submitted by residents that month tested positive. About 68% of this year's detections were in the Santa Clarita Valley, but cases have also been found across the county. Officials urge residents never to touch bats or wild animals, to keep pet vaccinations current, and to seek medical advice promptly after any possible contact.
