Briscoe Wins NASCAR South Point 400 Playoff Race in Las Vegas
The NASCAR Cup Series playoffs stopped at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on October 4 for the South Point 400, drawing fans to the northeast edge of the valley. Chase Briscoe held off Kyle Larson and a field of championship contenders to win the race, after also taking the opening stage. The afternoon featured several cautions for debris and spins, including a scare for regular-season champion Denny Hamlin, but Briscoe's late pace sealed the victory. The race is one of several major sports weekends anchoring Las Vegas beyond the Strip, alongside Formula 1 and stadium events. Local hotels and restaurants reported a busy weekend, and officials urged fans to allow extra travel time and use shuttles or rideshares on race day.
