Houston Withdraws $100M Federal Housing Pilot Application, Citing Capacity Concerns
In an Oct. 5 statement, the Houston Mayor's Office said the city is withdrawing its application for a $100 million federal housing pilot (the Model Cities Initiative), concluding that the program's execution pace and management demands exceed the city's currently available capacity. The city stressed that withdrawal does not mean abandoning housing work, and that staff will reassess scale and timing before next steps. Photo: downtown Houston (file photo).
