檀香山厨余回收全岛推行 食物残渣可直接放绿色回收桶
檀香山市环境服务部门宣布，G.R.O.W.（绿色回收有机废物）计划自10月1日起在全岛推行：所有使用三桶自动回收系统的家庭，都可以把食物残渣直接放入绿色堆肥回收桶。
据市政府估算，欧胡岛每年产生的食物残渣约6万吨。该计划此前已在Waipahu、Nanākuli、夏威夷凯、Mililani、Kailua和Kalihi等地试点。市政府提醒，残渣不要装袋，可先冷冻、待回收日再取出，以减少异味。
Honolulu's Food-Scrap Recycling Program Goes Islandwide
Honolulu's environmental services department says its G.R.O.W. (Green Recycling Organic Waste) program went islandwide on October 1: every O'ahu home with the automated three-cart system can now put food scraps directly into the green compost cart.
City officials estimate O'ahu generates about 60,000 tons of food scraps a year. The program was previously piloted in Waipahu, Nanākuli, Hawai'i Kai, Mililani, Kailua and Kalihi. Residents are asked not to bag scraps and to freeze them until collection day to cut down on odor.
