Michigan Commits Major Funding to Detroit River Cleanup
On October 1, Michigan's governor announced a major river restoration commitment, pledging substantial state funding to clean up and transform the Detroit and Kalamazoo rivers, with federal matching support. The work includes removing polluted sediment and restoring fish and wildlife habitat.
Detroit's mayor welcomed the plan, noting the riverfront draws millions of visitors each year. The effort also aims to expand boating access, trails and public green space along the water.
