Columbus Seeks 15 Residents for New Community Crisis Response Advisory Board; Applications Due Oct. 23
The City of Columbus is accepting applications for the inaugural Community Crisis Response Advisory Board, with a deadline of Oct. 23. The board stems from a city charter amendment passed overwhelmingly by voters in May 2026; in June 2026, City Council passed an ordinance defining the board as a 15-member body intended to represent the diversity of Columbus, including representatives from bargaining units and other relevant organizations. The board will oversee and make recommendations on the community crisis response system the city is building, which is designed to provide alternative, non-police responses to calls suited to that approach, alongside existing alternative response programs. The mayor and City Council will make appointments in early November, with the goal of holding the board's first meeting by the end of November 2026; prospective first-meeting dates are Nov. 17, 18 and 23.
